Free WebCam & Microphone Test

Test your webcam and microphone to ensure they are working properly.

Ensure Your Camera and Audio are Broadcast Ready

Whether you are jumping into an important business meeting, launching a live video stream, or catching up with family, having a working webcam and microphone is crucial. There is nothing more awkward than joining a call only to hear, “We can’t see or hear you!”

Using our interactive WebCam & Microphone Test, you can check both devices simultaneously in seconds without installing any bloated software. This online tool safely requests local device permissions and instantly relays a high-definition preview of your video stream alongside a real-time audio visualization graph of your microphone.

What Does This Tool Test?

Our hardware tester runs several diagnostics on your inputs to ensure they are fully operational:

  1. Live Webcam Feed: Renders your camera stream in a responsive, glassmorphism container, allowing you to check focus, lighting, and framing.
  2. Camera Diagnostics: Reads and displays active stream metadata including actual width, height, aspect ratio, and frame rate.
  3. Microphone Level Meter: Features a real-time AudioContext decibel volume bar indicating the sensitivity and peak levels of your voice.
  4. Real-time Audio Visualizer: Connects to an AnalyserNode to render frequency waveforms on a canvas, verifying that your microphone captures clear treble and bass signals.
  5. Interactive Device Enumeration: Detects and lists all available cameras and microphones connected to your computer so you can switch between them and test each one.

How to Test Your Webcam and Mic

Testing your communication equipment is simple:

Absolutely. The WebCam & Microphone Test runs entirely in your local browser sandbox. Your video feed and audio signals are processed client-side and are never uploaded to any server.

How do I grant permission to use my webcam and microphone?

When you click the "Grant Access" or "Start Test" buttons, your browser will display a permission prompt. Select "Allow" to grant temporary access. You can revoke this access at any time by clicking the camera icon in your address bar.

What should I do if my webcam or mic isn't detected?

First, make sure the devices are physically plugged in and turned on. Next, close any other applications (like Zoom, Teams, or Skype) that might be using the camera or microphone. Finally, refresh the page and ensure you grant permission.
